Devon L. Johnson Sr. is an accomplished civic leader, community advocate, and organizational director with over fifteen years of experience in youth development, public policy, and strategic leadership. A Miami, Florida native, Devon has dedicated his career to empowering underrepresented communities, fostering youth leadership, and driving meaningful social and political change.

Devon’s extensive background in public service is highlighted by his historic election as the youngest Executive Committeeman for the Nashville Davidson County Democratic Party (District 19), where he served three consecutive terms. His commitment to systemic change is further demonstrated by his appointments to the Nashville Social Justice Committee, the Davidson County Democratic Party’s Communications and Events Committee, and the Education and Legal Affairs Committee. He is also an active member of the Davidson County Democratic Black Caucus.

With a strong foundation in organizational leadership, Devon has served in key executive and advisory roles within community and national organizations. He was appointed National President of Education and Spiritual Life for the nonprofit organization Live, Love, Lead, where he designed initiatives focused on holistic community empowerment. Demonstrating a lifelong commitment to youth mentorship and sports advocacy, he also served as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Association (FCAA) Director for the Miami Jackson Senior High School football team, guiding young athletes toward personal and academic success.

Devon’s legislative experience began during his collegiate years when he was selected as a Senator for the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature (TISL), representing American Baptist College. In this role, he collaborated with peers statewide to draft, debate, and pass mock bills aimed at improving the lives of Tennessee citizens.

A lifelong learner, Devon’s multidisciplinary academic background spans government, public policy, and leadership. He graduated from Booker T. Washington Senior High School in Miami, FL, and went on to study Pastoral Care and Theology at American Baptist College. He expanded his expertise at Liberty University, double majoring in Government (with a concentration in Politics and Policy) and Religion. Devon is currently completing his undergraduate degree online through Florida Memorial University in Miami.

Devon is the proud father of two children, Devon L. Johnson II and A’Mora Harmony Johnson. He remains deeply committed to building a more equitable future for the next generation through strategic advocacy, education, and community-first leadership.
